The name "Kelecung" is believed to originate from an ancient Balinese word meaning "a place where water flows." It is said that the first inhabitants of this area discovered a small river that continued to flow even during the dry season. This spring became the main source of life for the residents, and over time, the community came to know this area as Kelecung.

As the village developed, this place often served as a gathering point for deliberations and traditional ceremonies.
